Dan is from my area, and is a cool guy and a obviously a hell of a racer. I'm excited to see him going for 100 wins. Reading what he has to say about what's happened to NHRA racing over the past 20 years is really a bummer though.

Great story of a great Champion, thanks. Now I've got to follow his season to see when he'll win it, and also to keep up with his Stock Elimination points.

Reading the story about how the money has not really changed from about 20 years ago made me think about the alcohol classes and how their pay day has also stayed the same for years.
It hurts even more when I realize the amount of money that is paid to the people at the top of the sectioning body.

Sometimes it seems like everyone else is making money except for the racers who really put on the show !

The bad part is not JUST that the purses haven't changed, but the amount he wins from the CONTINGENCY PROGRAM is way down from 20 years ago. That is the scary part. He used to win tens of thousands of dollars with a national event win. Now, he needs the sponsors to be able to keep going. Very scary indeed.
