Since the 2010 CHRR several racers have came down with Valley Fever; a fungus disease that attacts the lungs. Along with Dale, other folks like Ed Iskandarian and Nick Arias to name a few have also been fighting bout with Valley Fever. It is only found in the So. West part of the country, but becasue of the weather we had in October here in California there has been more cases than normal.

Though it is common in certain parts of the state and easy to diagnose, some may have been visiting from other parts of the country and have come down with it. An example is some members of Jack Harris'es Top Fuel team from Utah. If you attended the CHRR from back east and have been having sevier flu like simptoms or Menigitius, and the doctors are having a hard time treating it it might just be Valley Fever. In many case the mistreatment is worse that no treatment at all.

Hear's hoping that Pulde and all the others suffering from this get well soon. He's been laid up with this for quite awhile, heard he's been in the hospital for over a month, but they finally moved him out of the ICU the other day.

What I forgot to mention yesterday is that I visited him at the hospital for about an hour. The worse is behind him as they were able to get the treatment going in the right direction. It was the misdiagnosis that was causing the problems. i wouldn't worry about Dale too much as he has the love and devotion of Valerie who is camped out next to his bedside. Right before I left he was able to stand up and disconnect all the tubes before heading downstairs to X-ray.

Doctors said he should be heading home on Friday. We put Valerie in contact with a specialist in Bakersfield for some follow up.

I know both Dale and Valerie appreciates the concerns and well wishes.

From what I have gathered about Valley Fever from reading about it the last couple of weeks is that it generally is not fatal unless it goes completley untreated (just like any disease)......but it can seriously mess you up. Like Gino said....Pulde will be okay after some recovery time.
