Cory Mac

Poor Cory,he def cant catch a break this year. Wish he could get back ina quialty car and win a c-ship before he retires.

Left Lane: Dom Lagana Runs 9.562/83.97, Now #18; Best prior run: 4.078/280.84, Was #18
Right Lane: Cory McClenathan Runs 3.887/318.32, Now #12; Best prior run: 3.904/303.43, Was #13

Lagana lost traction early in the run. McClenathan lost traction immediately.

What? Lost traction immediately but runs 3.88 at 318?

Having spoken to the Rapisarda's at the Australian Winternationals in June, they will be the first to admit that racing NHRA is a big step up, and there is always learning to do. They are a young team and are absorbing all the info they can from the DSR guys. There is an open agreement that if Cory ever came up with the dollars and wanted to go racing in his own team, he would have their blessing. In the meantime, Santo's team are enjoying the opportunity to give an NHRA veteran a ride.
It just bothers me when people say Cory deserves a better quality ride. (more so on his Facebook profile, than here on the Mater). Santo's team would love to be more competitive given the investment they've made in racing NHRA this year.

I'm not trying to imply that he has an inferior ride. If it comes across that way I am sorry. I was just pointing out his lack of luck, and we all know that luck sometimes has lots to do with winning or losing in drag racing. :D

As a Cory Mac fan, I think the Santos ride is a good fit for Cory right now. They seem to have enough parts, they're getting tuning help from DSR and they seem to be in it for the long haul. Not only that, but the team seems happy to have an experienced guy like Cory around. I know it's not "ideal" in the sense that they are setting the world on fire, but they seem to be progressing, and how cool would it be for that team to win?

That goes without saying, Down under you race what 4-5 Meets a year with 6-8 TF cars! As opposed to 23 races with 18-20 every week!

Pretty close to it Joe. 8 rounds scheduled for this season, and anywhere from 5-8 cars to appear at each round, depending on which state (Sydney usually has the highest car count). The bone of contention is that the prizemoney hasn't increased since 1992. I won't get into the politics of the sport here :) The last time Cory was here (Sept 2011), he thoroughly enjoyed himself and was joking around with the Santo crew during a rain delay. The Aussies really love Cory's intensity, much like Scott Kalitta when he came down for two events in 05/06.
