NHRA's gotten away with a lot of things due only to the fact that they don't have any close competition. If someone were kicking their butts with 32 car fields and owners with six and eight teams, I don't think you'd see them limiting owners to four cars. Bruton Smith wouldn't have been interested in buying them if he didn't think he could do a better job with it.

How many stores got so big that they seemed to get arrogant, as if nobody would ever catch them in the market. Then, someone always seems to. I've bracket raced at one NHRA track and four IHRA tracks, all local to me. Many others and myself will tell you can that you'll run into "Our sh** doesn't stink", attitude problems at the NHRA one way before you ever do at the IHRA ones.

I cheer for the DRIVERS not for the SPONSOR's name on the side of the car...
I'm the same way. I think I proved it last season. In Baytown I told the BRUT guys that very thing.....I'll follow Capps no matter his sponsor. :D

From CompPlus.com:

"Evan Knoll remains tight-lipped regarding his plans for involvement with the IHRA but has hinted of some major improvements in purse to be put in place with the sanctioning body. The popular rumor is that he's planning to double the purses for the IHRA's Top Fuel and Funny Car divisions. His generosity won't stop there we are told. Reportedly, he's working to double the purse of the Pro Modified and Pro Stock shootouts which would reward $40,000 to win and $18,000 runner-up. Knoll's only comment is, "Wait until after Indy." (8-31-2006) "

If IHRA is going to be a player they need tracks in bigger markets.

Really, and Losing they're crown jewel Norwalk didn't help matters much. I think the IHRA will always serve the low dollar Fuel racers. I think it's great that Low buck racers like Dale Creasy, Jr., Jack Wyatt and Gary Densham have a series where they can compete on a weekly basis. Personally I think the Bigger IHRA gets the better NHRA will be in the long run.
