Comp new sponsor ?

Rumor has it that Five Guys sponsored comp in Phoenix.

That is good news if so, but sadly it didn't make a difference in the car count at Phoenix.

I'm not really up on Comp Eliminator, so what is it about Comp that has the car counts so low for the last several years, but a class like Top dragster gets 32 cars so easily?

I think the main reason the count was so low in Phoenix was the D4 race going on in Houston that had the bonus payout provided by Rodger Brodgon. Looks like they had 35 cars show up down there with quite a few people who would have probably raced in Phoenix if not for this race. I texted Joe Mozeris on Saturday and he went to Texas instead of driving the 20ish miles to Wild Horse.

I think so, depending on what kind of car you're running. And besides that, you can take your Top Dragster and go bracket racing at any track in America on any given weekend if there's no NHRA race nearby. But if you've got a 32 Bantam altered, a 6 cylinder turbo Cobalt, or whatever some of those guys run, there aren't a whole lot of places to race them besides Comp eliminator.

Much more, if you're actually going to be competitive. It's not that bad to get into the sixes in TD, especially if you're willing to do engine work yourself. I doubt I could afford an entry-level comp car.

It's a bummer to see the car count so low. When I was a kid I couldn't wait to watch Buddy Ingersol run.

Most of the cars that ran Comp at Phx were also there for the divisional. I kinda wish that Ralph had won Comp, but I also like Bruno and that bad bad twin turbo 6 banger.
