The VW dragster was only running about 130 mph toward the top end as the viper closed in at over 210 mph. Trying to save himself from some CIC, Hyerstay ended up lifting a little too early as Radford snuck around him by .056 seconds.
That's taking way too much stripe, but then it's hard to judge when you are running 210 and the other guy is running 130. It's not only complicated for the fans but driving the top end in comp can be very difficult for the drivers.
BTW, I don't think it's all that complicated to understand the CIC system when you simply explain it in terms of a handicap system. People who have either golfed or bowled can pick up on it fast when you explain CIC in those terms.
