Commisso Holds His Ground at E-town

Raymond Commisso, driver of the R2B2 Motors 67 Camaro Pro Mod, once again made a strong showing at the ProCare Rx Supernationals. Commisso placed the Al Billes tuned, G-Force Race Cars built ride in the #3spot with a 6.00 @ 243 Mph blast down the famed quarter mile track. Commisso stated, “We really wanted to make a strong showing in our debut for our new sponsor Roger Burgess and his R2B2 Motors division. I have to say we wanted a five second run in qualifying, but a 6.00 is not too bad. It’s always nice to run eliminations from the top half of the ladder”.

Commisso was fortunate in his first round win as he broke a blower belt near the finish line slowing him to a 6.06 at 220 mph. Fortunately, he was unopposed as many teams suffered damage throughout the weekend and could not make the first round call. In the second round Commisso disposed of new teammate Doug Palmer, as Palmer got loose and collected a timing cone and was disqualified. The semi final proved to be a pivotal match of number 2 and 3 in the AMS Pro Mod points chase, Commisso vs. Payne. As Ray staged the car into the beams he smelled gear oil and knew something wasn’t right. It broke his concentration and Payne gained a huge holeshot. At the 900 ft. mark, Commisso broke an axle and all hell broke loose. He says, “I barely held on to it. And thank God Jay was not beside me or I would have run into him. That would have been really ugly. Rear end oil got under one tire and just drove the car out of control. I hit a cone and damaged the front end but that’s ok. We will get it all fixed up for Bristol in 2 weeks”.

The R2B2 motors Camaro will attend the O’Reilley Thundervalley Nationals in Bristol, Tennessee in two weeks stay tuned to comandracing.com and r2b2racing.com for all the essential info.
