Class combinations

More off-season fun here:

If you were to merge some classes under one umbrella, and use the performance numbers from 2025 as your baseline, which ones would you throw in the deep end of the pool?

Seeing how Factory X (which I loved the concept) had Failure To Launch, I'd like to draw those cars into a new Modified Production category, that would also see some from Super Comp, T/S and some rule book-accurate PST as well.

Let's have some fun with this!

They said that Modified Production was going to be 1981 and earlier only, so between that and 2025 is a wide rift of cars not in the class if you put Factory X in there. Maybe there’s a place in Pro Stock for them? The Factory X record is 6.86 @ 196mph and the PS record is 6.44 @ 212mph , so they could be merged together for more excitement in PS.

heads up? or breakout? i love TS cause you can see many varied body styles running high horsepower and driving both stripes.
the TD pomona winner was essentially a SC dragster, but he out drove the faster competitors in the class.
that was super fun to watch. the only day of racing at pomona a few weeks ago.

Maybe a new form of Pro Comp?
I do wish they could so something with those 6.10 Top Dragsters. I remember when IHRA had Pro Outlaw (which I think became Super Eliminator - or maybe other way around actually) and I found it quite an enjoyable class. Would love a heads-up open wheel class with prochargers, turbos, nitrous, etc

With as many classes that have a couple of years of consistency for ET and speed, it would make sense to build eliminator classes based on that data in the 5.0-5.49 range (all styles run, heads up); 5.50- 5.99 range (all styles run, heads up); 6.0- 6.99 range (Comp style Index); 7.0- 7.99 (new Modified Production); 8.0- 8.99 (mix of traditional M/P and ?); 9.0- 11.99 (all styles run, handicap on a dial-in); 12.0- 14.99 (all styles run, handicap on a dial-in)... Stretch it out up to 20 seconds, if necessary, but I haven't seen a lot of cars slower than 18 seconds lately...

Add in electrics based on their et and safety gear. And get rid of the stutter boxes.

Martin, that sounds interesting. I well remember Pro Comp and how much I loved seeing those cars run. Before Pro Comp, Lions ran 3 heads up classes. JR/F, AA/FA, Top Gas Dragster. Usually 8 car shows, heads up. I loved going to Lions to see these classes run. OCIR also had a heads up class called Combo Elim, which basically was the fore runner of Pro Comp. I really could see a heads up class with Top Dragster & Top Sportsmen. 6.10 index as now, but all heads up. Of course, that would kill T/S and T/D as they are now, but maybe a slower version of those classes running as ET cars. Well, just my 10 cents. Used to be 2 cents, but inflation....
