...caught your pictures in the newspaper today from the Backyard Barbeque last weekend. Also heard Steve Cannon talking about it on the radio. Look like a good ole time!!

Murdock, I didn't see the pictures , was it your local ? Steve Cannon 96.3 ROV .Got your Van Halen tics yet ? :D

Hey Hammer, the pictures were in the weekly county newspaper from Chatham. Steve Cannon was talking about the dinner one morning during John Boy and Billy. After taking a week off for vacation, I can't afford Van Halen tickets. Couldn't afford them anyway, CW is making all of the money, I'm just doing the work. :D

How have both of you guys been? I still go through Roanoke every week on my way to and from the northeast and on my way to Martinsville. Going through Danville tonight from Martinsville to my first stop in Fredericksburg. Gotta get Rex to bring some more turnovers next year! :)

Well I'm still here holding down the fort in Danville, stop by and see us sometime, Ron!

I actually got my hands on one of those turnovers last fall when my parents took a trip to New Hampshire, and stopped by on the way home and brought one to me. Made two deserts for the wife and I. Mmmmmm, mmmmmm good!

Who is the chef working for these days?

From what I could gather in the newspaper article, Chef Dale is the head chef for Aramark Food Services in the Danville area, which is the food supplier for our local hospital. I know that they do other work besides the hospital, so I would assume that he heads up any other efforts that they have in the area. And his wife is a regional sales rep for a food distribution company, the name of the company escapes me right now. So I'm sure there's no shortage of something good to eat around the Johnson household!;)

Hey David, thanks for the props and culinary-race greetings to all of this thread.
Good ole time to say the least.......It was a blast !! The big WSLS News 10 truck parked in my front yard and the WROV 96.3 "Thunder Truck" in the driveway with Steve doing live feeds of music. If you watched the news that night, they did 3 live cut-ins to feature us & the cookout. It was 98 degrees that day and I was standing over 12 pounds of hot Kingsford Charcoal, Cooking "Black Angus" hamburgers, Johnsonville Beer Brats', Chicken & Pork Satay, Corn on the Cob (white & yellow) and VallyDale Honey Hot Dogs. Also cooked up a "Shrimp Boil" (shrimp-kielbasa-potatoes-corn). Although we couldn't be seen with "adult beverages" on T.V., we had plenty to consume in our trusty blue plastic cups ;) . Both the T.V. crew and Steve and his gang hung around a good hour after broadcasting was over, mostly assembling "take home" bags. So yea, a good time was had by all !!
The wife and I will be having a similar cook-out as we are planing an "end of summer" BACK YARD BLOWOUT !! Any "Mater" that would like to attend, let me know and I will e-mail you directions. We live in the country on 5 acres of all fenced in land so bring the kids if you wish. Steve Cannon has already confirmed he WILL BE THERE. He's working with the station to bring the Thunder Truck & equipment.......if not, I'm working on a local band.
As far as a Team Chef race gig goes, one is in the works for the 2008 season. Things look promising so we'll see how it goes.

Hey, count me in!! Just tell me when, I can probably find you with minimal directions. I'm just down the road, you know. ;)
