cat drags....be there!!!

The last thing I want to hear about is baseball stats, or football stats, or hoop ball stats. What's next, double dutch jump rope stats? And who cares that a dope smoking rock star showed up at the drags? Or a hoop ball player? Or the US bobsled team? If it's not drag racing related, I don't want to hear about it.

So much for that rant.

The US Bobsled team is racing related, just ask Melanie Troxel about the bruises that are just now going away on her arm from when she went on her side in January in one of those things. Jeggie also says it is a lot of fun, and Jeg's have thrown a few bucks at the Bodine sled project ... which helped net the US their first bobled gold since the 30's. To me, it was good to see them come hang out for a while as a kind of "thank you" for the support they got from the drag racing community.

I personally also tune into the races to watch racing (novel idea), but I have no issue when they show "celebrities" in attendance. It might entice some people to come out or watch a little longer. Everyone does it, not just NHRA.

Lastly, regarding "dope smoking rock stars" ... if you can't get good drugs and go to the races, what is the point of being a rock star? ;) :D

PS I also had no issue with the cat drags, it was for a cause, and like it or not, John and Ashley Force are the 2 biggest draws in the sport and people like to see what they do away from the track. The whole thing was tongue-in-cheek, not too preachy for the cause, and Force got his sponsors plugged a few times. It was a win-win-win.

Whoever created the Fast Forward Button on my Tivo deservs a BIG HUG & Kiss from me! What an ABSOULTE WATSE of TV Time! I mean-REALLY!:mad::confused:

I don't know if anyone else has noticed but John Force seems to be putting the ESPN guys on the spot more and more lately I have heard him a couple of times openly say on the air that he knows what they are upto trying to boost ratings.

I don't get on the Mater nearly as often as I used too, largely because I'm so busy, but as my wife and I sat there watching the telecast Sunday I turned to her during the "Cat Drags" piece and said, "Oh my goodness - the internet is going to light up like a Christmas tree about this."

I'm kinda like Neff and Ace when it comes to the ESPN telecasts - I don't get too high or too low. There have been some real good stories and there have been some really bad ones, no doubt. But I've learned a little something from each and every one of them. Sure, some of it is useless trivia, but sometimes I learn something interesting and educational.

Were the Cat Drags silly? Yes, of course they were - but that was the point. But they raised money and awareness for a very good cause. In my mind, I'll accept a little silliness if it's for a good cause.
