<P> (7-31-08) JORDAN STATION, ONTARIO – Even though he is running a limited schedule of selected events, in International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) Knoll - Gas Nitro Jam™ Drag Racing Series competition, Pro Modified driver Carl Spiering has proven he can run with the best of the strong Pro Modified teams.

And the driver of the Eaton Cutler-Hammer 1963 Corvette Pro Modified will be ready and on his game plan when he competes this weekend in the IHRA Torco Northern Nationals at US 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Michigan.

“We have been trying some engine and driveline changes this year, and have been successful,” said Spiering, who won the IHRA Rocky Mountain Nationals in Edmonton earlier this season. “Our ERD engine program has come together well, and we have been having success with our Bruno's Automotive BRT Converter Drive, which is coupled to a Lenco transmission with a torque converter supplied by Coan Engineering. We’re still learning with this new combination, but we are very happy with the results to date.”

Along with his Pro Modified victory in Edmonton, Spiering has qualified in the top half of the line-up for the other events the team has raced in one of the toughest classes in drag racing. He qualified seventh at both Edmonton and at the recent IHRA event at Grand Bend where he went to the second round. He qualified fifth at the Motor City Nationals at Milan Michigan in May and went to the second round at that event as well.

The Northern Nationals is the seventh national event in the 10-race IHRA 2008 season.

“We didn’t have a lot of success at Martin last year, but we have in the past and I’m confident of my car and the Eaton Road Warrior will certainly be in the hunt this weekend.”

Carl’s daughter Lisa will also be competing this weekend in her Eaton Powerware sponsored dragster to a crowd that will include over 500 Eaton customers, distributors, employees and guests.

The IHRA Torco Northern Nationals in is scheduled for August 1-3 at US 131 Motorsports Park.
