Can someone explain this

Copied straight from the NHRA website article:
"Foley, who raced Top Fuelers from 2005-2001 before taking a nine-year break, returned in 2020 on a part-time basis."
Does he have a time machine?

Now the homepage of nhra.com says Tatum won and results page says Foley

It'd be my guess that whoever typed that meant 2005-2011. Just a guess, though. ;)

Carl,

Most take the written word literally and cannot accept errors, human or not...not with this crowd, just in general

I also think Foley ended the first round of his TF "career" sooner....in 2008 he lost the Torco/Skull Gear/Mach Accelerated sponsorship, when that conglomerate fell. I think he only lasted another year on associate sponsorships (2009)?

I hear ya. I frequent YB and there's a contingency of statistic and grammar police on that forum who have made a career out of exactly that. And while I recall Foley racing back then and the Torco mess, I can't say with any accuracy when he started and when he signed off. Pleased that he made the final yesterday and watching Tatum's short but emotional interview afterward.

I was happy for him also...Lord knows we need to keep the car count up and if this gets him more $$$ then so be it. I do know he sued Knoll Gas in 2009 for the remainder on his contract, but may have been futile.
