It's only gonna get worse as summer wears on. It is extremely dry in the foothills around us, and we didn't get near enough moisture last winter. The firefighters are going to have a long fire season, that is for sure.

Its very ugly here too. Were having a HAIL storm at the moment, add some thunder and lightning, and you end up with one Dog that doesn't know where she wants to hide. She's gonna lose a few pounds with all the shaking going on.

The fire is too close to Napa for my pallate's comfort. I am a fan of a big, dark fruit and smoky California old vine Zinfandel but this is ridiculous ....

I'm flying to Walnut Creek tomorrow for my nephews outdoor wedding on Saturday, hows things in that area? Mike

I'm sure there will be some smoke hanging about, but the fires are further up. PM Greg Stanley and ask him, I believe he works in the Walnut Creek area.

We might get the delta breeze starting today or tomorrow to help clear it up. Problem is fires are still burning and wind could make them worse.

Wedding, did someone say wedding? I'm up for a good party if the booze is free.:D

We fished the Delta early Monday morning, and was surprised at how calm it was. The water was glass.

Today it's really bad. This morning while I was taking a shower my smoke alarm goes off. I come flying out covered with lather and run thru the house wondering where the fire was. Then I look outside and It looks like the winter fog we get here, shocking to say the least. Local news sez that up to 1000 fires are burning in the northern half of the state and that another dry lightening storm is expected tomorrow evening. My kid who lives in Nevada is even getting hammered with the smoke so I have no place to run to for fresh air.

THIS SUCKS BIG TIME1111:mad:

Glenn, I thought it was better out here this morning, but this afternoon another really heavy layer of smoke rolled into the Tracy area. Not sure if there are more fires in this area (probably a matter of time before the Altamont hills burn up) or the smoke from the fires up north blowing back in. But it is definitely rough on the eyes, nose, throat and all that stuff.

I thought I saw the other day on the news that, technically, we are now in a drought.
???

Reminds me of the 70's which was the last drought we had here.
It had nothing to do with global warming either which I'm sure they will blame it on!
There is a consistant order of wood burning in our area and the sun give off a orange hue.

Shhhhhhhh...don't say the 'd' word!! Our city has put some restrictions on water use, but nothing major so far.

We have a heavy smoke layer this morning, and the sun has a very orange hue to it....they said we might get some clearing this weekend.

It was so bad here on Saturday that I was going to cut our lawns but opted to go back inside because the smoke was thick and the entire area smelt like someone was burning leaves nearby. Came out this morning (Monday) to head off to work and the cars were all dusted with ash (again).
