Bruno and Dooley Racing Continue Forward Progress

Mike Bruno, team leader of Bruno and Dooley Racing, experienced his best outing thus far in 2006. Bruno qualified his Rick Jones built 2006 GTO in the number 11 spot with a 6.47 at only 210 MPH.

This set up a first round meeting with a fellow member of FBI, Tony Gillig. While Mike came up short, he definitely gave Gillig, one of IHRA’s best Pro Stock drivers, all he could handle.

A Thursday test session revealed some ignition gremlins in the Cavalier driven by Tim Dooley which were solved thanks to MSD. Unfortunately, the issues with the ignition left the team guessing on a tune up during the first two qualifying shots in Milan.

Rookie driver, Tim Dooley, admitted that it was driver error that cost him a shot at making a full pass during the third and final qualifying session. “I made driver error in the third session, costing the team the shot at qualifying both cars” explained Dooley. “Rookie error imagine that??!! The truth stings, I made a mistake!! “

While Tim Dooley is up front about rookie mistakes he is sure to improve with each and every lap. The team will qualify both cars and win many rounds before the season is completed. With a secret weapon such as Gary Henry things are sure to continue improving.

The team really gelled in Milan under Henry’s leadership. The event marked the first time Gary Henry had preferred clutch man, Steve Cross, working with Bruno and Dooley Racing. “It was awesome to watch the two of them work together” said an enthusiastic Tim Dooley.

The process of making Bruno and Dooley Racing a front running team is taking time but the process is sure underway.

It will be a matter of time before both cars qualify and go rounds. “

The recipe for success is here. We have two great RJ Race Cars , we have awesome Sonny's power, we have Gary Henry and Steve Cross along with two good drivers.. Time will tell. Stay tuned!!”
