BRETT STEVENS RACING PRIMED TO TAKE ON AUSTRALIA ’S BEST AT NATIONALS

Willowbank Raceway will be the centre of Australian Drag Racing this weekend (September 14-16) when it hosts the 42nd Australian Nationals.

With huge Group One fields entered in one of the countries toughest Drag Racing events, Queensland’s own Brett ‘The Boss’ Stevens has confirmed he is planning on bringing his amazing entourage of seven professional vehicles to thrill the crowds and take it up to the opposition.

Racing against the clock though to complete the building of his new Jack Daniel’s Racing Falcon Top Doorslammer, he is giving his dedicated chassis shop staff up until the very last minute before making a decision on whether he will drive his wife Kath Stevens car or his new 3000 horsepower machine.

“At the season opener in Sydney two weeks ago Kath sat out of the event so I could drive her race car after I damaged mine exhibition racing in Darwin in July,” Brett Stevens said.

“The guys in the workshop have been doing an amazing job though working around the clock to get my new car ready for the Nationals and it is going to be touch and go whether it will be completed in time.”

“Kath is desperately hoping she will have her car this weekend, she is really looking forward to consolidating her position in the professional Drag Racing ranks this season with some good results and wants to get back out there as soon as possible.”

“The plan at this stage is still to have myself, Kath and Steve Packman in our SP Racing Falcon all on track in Top Doorslammer, along with our Kitten Car Care Products Top Alcohol Funny Car, S&S Powered Pro Stock Buell and two Jack Daniel’s Racing Top Bikes.”

Kath Stevens, who is the only female who races in the professional Top Doorslammer bracket, has been equally as busy in preparation for the Nationals but did manage to take some time out of her schedule to be presented with the Australian Defence Medal.

A former member of the Australian Armed Forces who saw active service in East Timor, Kath was presented with the award by Wing Commander Glen Paton from the RAAF and Federal Member for Longman the Honourable Mal Brough in a service recently at Caboolture , Queensland .

“I feel privileged that I have been able to serve my country and it is great recognition that my contributions have been honoured this way,” Kath Stevens said.

“I served in the Transport Corp of the Australian Army for six years before settling in Brisbane with Brett and starting my Drag Racing career.”

“Right now though I am just really itching to get more seat time in my race car so I can mix it with the big guns, we think we might have come up with a combination for the cars that will have all three of our Doorslammers consistently running numbers that will have us up the top end of the fields.”

“Hopefully Brett’s new car will be ready and I will get my one back this weekend and will be racing in front of my home crowd at Willowbank Raceway which I always enjoy.”
