Brandon “The Kid” kicks off 2007 with high hopes in Houston

BROKEN ARROW, OKLA – February 17, 2007 - The 2007 National Hot Rod Association season will kick off for Brandon “The Kid” Lewis at the year’s first Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Division-4 event at Houston Raceway Park.

The 21-year-old Lewis is in search of his first event win in the Aluminum Tank and Truck Accessories funny car to jump start his pivotal third season in the NHRA.

“We can’t underestimate the importance of winning early and often,” Lewis said. “Everything is in place for this to be a monster year for us. We are incredibly focused on making a statement this weekend.”

After an offseason of preparation, Lewis said his crew is confident their goals – winning their division and contending for the world points championship – are within reach.

“We made some modifications to the car at the end of last season but we weren’t able to find out how much it helped because we got rained out at our last event,” he said. “We put in a lot of work at the shop the last couple months. It’s fair to say we plan on starting down the path to a Division-4Championship in Houston.”

The NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Division-4 takes place at Houston Raceway Park, February 16-18.
