Bradford Switches Clutch System, 14th in Houston

Tom Bradford's successful Gainesville Pro Stock Motorcycle outing came despite lackluster 60 foot times. "We were making plenty of power with The Sportsman Channel Buell in Gainesville, we just weren't managing the power," said Bradford. So the team decided to make a major clutch system change, switching back to the Gann clutch that the team tested last season. "We feel that this clutch is a better managing tool, and that it's the right way to go in the long run."

And Bradford's 60 foots did improve to a 1.100, still shy of where the team wants to be and the 1.08s and 1.09s laid down by the top teams at this week's O'Reilly NHRA Spring Nationals in Houston. "We're getting on top of it," said Bradford. "We made a decent run and were ninth quickest in the second session."

"We're making small steps," continued Bradford. "The motor's tight and we're finding the sweet part of the tune-up. The .08 was in the right direction and only the second run on the clutch since Vegas last year, and we were off a little bit on the gearing.

"Racetracks still aren't even open in our area, so we're happy to be in the field right now," said Bradford, who is qualified despite experimenting with a major component change. Tom was very upbeat and fully expecting The Sportsman Channel Buell to make a move up the qualifying order on Saturday.
