I have been fortunate to spend a lot of time in the winners circle and have a few special memories of different drivers and circumstances. Yesterday is at the top of the list. Over the years Bob and I have worked, traveled and roomed together more times than I can count. We have even shared the winners circle with me doing the pros and him the sportsman. When I ask him after all the times he had stood on the stage as the interviewer, "How does it feel to be on the other side of the mic?" he actually got a little misty. Then when he got the ice chest dumped on him by Jim Hughes and Big Head it was pricless.

Wat to go Unk, there's no doubt that you were the best man that day.

Alan

P.S. Please post the picture of the sign or send it to Kelly and she'll do it. thx

Yep, we have pictures of Unk interviewing Fred when he won the Mile-Highs, Fred mentioned it this morning and wondered if Unk did his own interview with himself :)

Is it true Unk was seen in the UPS pits during testing today in Baytown  :D

I just got to a computer and am pretty late to the party here, but CONGRATS UNK!! 0.003 package...tremendous job!

Unk ....UNK!! You can wake up now...Let's see, in military parlance, "Double-oh Unk" would be "Two-balls Unk." Okay, I think we have a nickname for the ages...

Total (not average) reaction time over three rounds of 0.005??? You sure you didn't hire Biondo or one of the Richardson brothers to drive for you?

Congratulations! I had fun doing the DRC coverage and after the semis I figured somebody was going red in the finals, but you showed a winning hand anyway.
I suspect you will still have that silly grin on your face when I see you in San Antonio in, oh, about a couple days.

I'll add my congrats as well. Cutting down the tree and turning on win lights. We cheered you on all day. My wife finally had to ask me why I was so interested in Stock Elim all of a sudden.

All I can say is WOW! Thank you one and all for the very kind words.

Never in my wildest dreams did I even think about winning a National event, not even close. In my fantasy world I thought MAYBE I could someday score at a divisional, but certainly never even gave thought to a national. I'm not sure that it's sunk in even yet.

First and foremost, I've got to thank the Emmons family, they have become brothers that I never had, and a dad that is truely a car guy. They've offered guidance and support when needed, they've laughed at my lousy jokes, and they've let the "old man" drive all night to get to the race. Besides that they REALLY know how to dial a car.

Secondly, thanks to Lucas Oil and Forrest & Charlotte for not only their support of our team, but for ALL of the support they provide across the board for the entire sportsman ranks. Two great people, and quality products (306 laps on a LT1 motor, and a small nick on a rod journal was the only internal wear?!).

To all the crew guys and gals out of the Pro ranks that offered their support while we were nearby in the staging lanes, thanks. I miss seeing you all every race weekend, I wish I had had more time to get around to see everyone........ wait a minute, no I don't....... that would have meant I was out, I like this outcome better :) .

It may have been Jim Hughes and Craig Anderson that dumped the ice chest on me, but I do believe Reinhart had a majority interest in the concept and planning. Big Al, just remember Seattle,,,, it's all I'm going to say........

Sorry I'll miss everyone in Belle Rose this weekend, but I'll be in San Antonio announcing the IHRA race. I'll catch up again with everyone in Dallas for the divisional.

Thanks again everyone!

Stock is WAY COOL, winning is WAY COOLER!

Bob,

Great job! I wish I could have been there to see it, or better yet, been at turnaround to point you to the cameras. Are you still sleeping with the Wally?
