Just saw Ron Capps on Twitter saying Doner has passed.
I first started going to Seattle (SIR back then) in 1970 and luckily got to know him a bit. He was an amazing promoter. And his radio and TV ads were legendary. Steve Evans said on one of his "Be There" tapes (recordings of drag racing ads) that "Doner never had a small race. Every race was the second coming of you know who". Quite a guy. Rest in peace Bill.

bobby, those storyteller episodes you did with bill are priceless. watched them a few times when you originally did them, and just got done LMAO listening
to the porky and linda lovelace stories again. what a man.

Grew up around SIR and 32\64\100 Funny Cars. "SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY!" Glad I got to see the show. I remember Ruth and Doner near fisticuffs, probably staged. RIP Bill. You "were" drag racing for kids in the '70s.
