HOLLY, Mich. – The veteran driving tandem/partnership of Bob Berger and Tom Klein are enjoying their move into the Top Dragster category this season with the support of sponsor Bar’s Leaks. The duo plans to compete at both NHRA and IHRA events in the Michigan area.
The move for the Berger & Klein team to the Top Dragster ranks came after 35 years of bracket racing. To date they have been as fast as 7.27 seconds at 185 mph in the quarter mile.
“We’ve been bracket racing pretty much non-stop for the last 35 years,” said Berger. “We usually decide who’s going to drive at which event when we plan the year out. We have a lot of fun doing it. We try to do our best to represent Bar’s Leaks at anything we do.”
“We race for fun,” added Klein. “Moving to Top Dragster this year has been a blast. We’ve been bracket racing for over 35 years, so to be able to go this fast is really something.”
In addition to racing on the track, the Berger & Klein team does a number of displays at auto parts stores in the region.
“We do quite a few displays for Bar’s Leaks during the year,” Klein explained. “We realize that’s an important marketing tool for them, and do our best to accommodate them.”
Bar’s Leaks V.P. of Marketing and Development Clay Parks cites the team’s work on and off the track is a key part of their partnership.
“The Berger & Klein team is a great representative of the Bar’s Leaks brand,” stated Parks. “Their professionalism at the track and doing point of purchase displays is vital to achieving our marketing objectives. The next event for the Bar’s Leaks sponsored team will be the IHRA Torco Race Fuels Northern Nationals, Aug. 1-3, in Martin, Mich.
