Top Alcohol Funny Car driver Duane Beers from Monroe, NJ has been tapped by Haskett Bros. Racing to drive their Top Alcohol Funny Car at the final NHRA Div. 2 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event taking place this weekend at Silver Dollar Raceway in Reynolds, GA.
Beers, who came highly recommended from Haskett family friend Paul Richards, is looking forward to getting back behind the wheel after spending the last several seasons as a clutch specialist for several Funny Car teams. “We know the clutch has been our weak spot since we started running a Funny Car. We raced Top Alcohol Dragster for several years running in the 5.40’s but have been unable to get the Funny Car competitive. My son Jeremy usually drives the car but unfortunately with work commitments he is unable to compete this weekend. When Paul suggested Duane drive, it made a lot of sense. We wanted someone who can help us get a baseline that we can build on.” stated Bobby Haskett, the team owner.
Qualifying for the Alcohol cars will be at 12:15 and 3:00 on Saturday, Oct. 15 with first round Saturday night at 6:00, eliminations will continue on Sunday Oct. 16 at 12:30.
