GAINESVILLE, Fla. (March 13, 2009) - Matco Tools/Lend America driver Joe Baker took the provisional No. 4 position after the first day of qualifying in the Get Screened America Pro Mod Challenge presented by ProCare Rx.
The Milton, Fla.-resident blasted to the No. 2 spot after his first round at 6.026/241.02 and slipped to the fourth spot after his Mike Ashley Racing '68 Camaro rattled the tires in round two.
"We went after it a little too hard in that second round - really went for the fence," Baker said. "The good news is that we're only three hundredths off the pace, and there's still a lot more left in it.
"Chuck Ford [crew chief] has given me a great car, and I'm really confident we'll do fine tomorrow and Sunday," Baker said.
Qualifying concludes with one final round scheduled at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Eliminations are scheduled begin at 4:30 Saturday evening and conclude Sunday.
