We drove 150 miles to Auburn, IN today to see this - it is just incredible.
The museum is in the Art Deco former headquarters of E.L. Cord and has dozens of literally priceless cars. The restorer of many of the cars was there and gave us what amounted to a private tour.
The huge Duesenberg J models have double overhead cam, four valve rotary supercharged engines that developed 420 hp - in 1930!
Model 811 Cords were the first production front wheel drive cars and have a programmable shifter that goes through the gears by pressing the clutch pedal without lifting the throttle (1929 paddle shifter?). Way ahead of their time!
Back to the track tomorrow for Pro Series race, Vintage cars on the track, Pit Crew contest and final practice. Then off to Brownsberg Saturday for a look at NHRA shops. And then, there is that race on Sunday - :D
I know, it's not drag racing, but this is a very special experience - Jim

Sounds like a once in a lifetime blast for the elderly... :D
Next time howzabout taking the kid along?? ;)

What is Ray Harroun's 91 year old, grandsons name?? :)
You can PM me or just send his mug shot after booking... :D
