over on bobby's site there'a a link to latest WFO radio talk with guest don prudhomme.........he hit's on variety of issues, some drag racing and talked about IRL and their forward thinking into future discussing reduction of engine size to better reflect the political/energy/environmental age we live in(i.e. how to attract sponsors to racing).
Yes, IRL is getting it right. Took a huge chance and hired Randy Bernard who turned a bunch of cowboys into the wildly successful PBR series, but knew NOTHING about motorsports. Result? 1. A new set of rules that represent green initiatives and a HUGE cut in the cost of racing. 2. More sponsors, resulting in increased car counts and opportunities for more American drivers. Rules had to be ammended last week to allow for 27 cars and again for Chicago on 8/28 for 29 cars. Remember, new rules do not take effect until 2012, but sponsors are already lining up.
Exact opposite of the NHRA, which continues to ignore safety and cost issues and is mired in the past? . . . Yup! Keep it up boys, you could turn second fiddle into no fiddle at all. JMHO
