Years ago Amato was using liquid nitrogen to cool the inside of the mags. Is this still done and has anyone ever cooled the clutch using liquid nitrogen?
even CO2 might cool the beast.

I have worked for several T/F teams and never used anything to cool the mags. As far as the clutch goes, the entire thing is removed after a run, why worry about cooling it? The only thing that may need cooloing is the hat, a lot of teams submerge it in coolant between runs.

On Medlen's car, we drilled 4 small holes in the cross shaft in the can and plugged one end and put a 1/4" quick fitting in the other end. After the warm up, I would hook up a non dip tube bottle of CO2 and turn it on to cool the clutch. Especially at hot tracks and if we had to refire the car.

This was done to cool the points in the Mallory mags. The constant arcs created from the opening and closing of the points created heat that destroyed the points, hence the need for cooling. Electronic ignitions do not create this arcing, no arcing no heat, no heat no need to cool.
