MEMPHIS, Tenn.– Could the roar and rumble of dragsters and stock cars be leaving an iconic Shelby County racetrack? There are rumors Memphis International Raceway might be closing at the end …
I am so happy IRG did not buy WWT/Gateway, I understand they were looking at it when Dover closed both Memphis and Gateway. The multiple property owners scared them off. Curtis Francois now owns all the property along with the golf course next door.
starting to think commercial developers hone in on failing racetracks, as they have road access, paved areas and electrical/sewer infrastructure already in place?
My hope is the owners of Rt66/Chicagoland Speedway sell Rt66 Dragstrip and Dirt Oval to someone that will keep it for racing. Get the dragstrip running like it was originally meant to be. As far as the Nascar track, don't really care. That was a big mistake the original owners did, was to bring others in to build it then eventually were bought out of both tracks.
would be another real shame to lose rt.66 altogether. really glad to see someone is leasing it for divisional. awefully popular and centrally located for sportsman racers
Actually, Elvis now lives in Sedona, Arizona, home of UFO's and Vortexes and other stuff. He jumps out of a UFO at 1000' at 9 PM sharp. Only costs you $100 and they take you to the site in a truck. As he is floating down, he kinda glows in the dark and looks like a skeleton. heh heh heh
