After having Seattle Seahawks season tickets for thirteen seasons, and Seattle Mariners tickets for ten, I gave up watching both baseball and football in 1994. However, I still look forward to, and watch, hockey. In fact other than racing, hockey is the only other sport that I follow.

We don't have an NHL team in the region where I live, other than the Canucks just across the border (and that's a real tough ticket to get). But we do have two major-junior Western Hockey League teams in the Puget Sound area located in Seattle and Everett. I've been following one of those teams, the Everett Silvertips, since they joined the league in 2003 and I'm a season ticket holder.

I've been enjoying and the racing so much this summer that the hockey season sort of just sneaked up on me. I just got a notice that tomorrow is season ticket pick-up day and the first game of the season is just two weeks away. Geez, where does the time go?

Anyway, should be a good year. Best yet, the Memorial Cup will be played in Vancouver this year. We ordered our Memorial Cup tickets last spring and I'm already starting to look forward to that week of championship hockey in May.

Drag racing and hockey. Other than some serious time in the fall woods, what more could a guy want?

It'll be an odd year here in Hockeytown. With Steve Yzerman retired it just wont feel the same. I kinda hope late in the season they're down players and beg him out of retirement for one more cup.

ducks are looking really good for this season -
niedermayer and pronger on the blue line, south jersey's own bobby ryan possibly sticking with the team.

as for me, still pulling for the devils - got some cap issues, but lou will take care of business as always.

Ed,

What's the latest with Gomez? With their cap issues he's been a trade rumor almost everyday since the free agent signing period started.

Has there been any talk about moving him from the Devils?

It will be tough for the Oilers to recapture the grit they had last season. I just jumped on board the NHL last year so I'm a huge Newbie. But I love the Oilers. Roloson, stay healthy.

hey drew, there's all kinds of talk about who could go -
mogilny and mcgillis getting booted would clear up 7 million.
brylin and his 1.8 or 2.1 mil. could go.
i'd really like to see gomez stay, but the bottom line is, he's making 5 million this year and can walk for nothing at the end of the year.
they gotta clear more than a few million to sign clemmenssen, martin, hale, and gionta.
that's two solid d-men, back up goalie, and the leading scorer from last season, if it were up to me i'd take the four of them over gomez. apparently all four have deals worked out, but can not be signed until the cap space is cleared.

like i said, i'd like to see them all stay, but it don't look too good.
we do have a saying 'round these parts

"in lou we trust"

Yeah, it'll be different for sure without Steve. Others have played just as hard, but none harder. And smarter. Stevie was a master at scoring from behind the net. He'll be missed.

I'm not even excited about the season. My wife is a huge Wings fans and she's nto either. Maybe it'll be different once the real season starts. Stevie was the heart of the team...and the fans

Drag racing in the summer and hockey in the winter. That is my life in a nutshell.

My boy finds out if he made Pee Wee AAA tonight. He's a lock as far as I'm concerned but you never know.

Go Oilers!!!

Smyth - Horcoff - Hemsky

Torres - Sykora - Lupul

Moreau - Stoll - Pisani

There isn't a deeper line-up up front than that, should be a great year.

In Lou we Trust - indeed. Go Devils!

P.S. I was born & raised in New Jersey: No bandwagon comments please. I'm in San Diego because that's where the Navy has me... for now.

I agree with that "two seasons" thing - though I usually try to get a little hunting and fishing in there as well. :D

Last week my wife and I were making our plans for the year. Besides the Memorial Cup in Vancouver next May, we also have tickets to a Vancouver Giants game in January and a Chilliwack Bruins game in February. Added to this, we also want to attend the NHRA Lucas Oil Series races at Mission Raceway Park in BC, which are usually held in late May. With all these trips planned for Canada, and especially considering the current border restrictions, we decided it was finally time to get ourselves some passports. We got the paperwork together and submitted our applications on Friday.

Yeah i definitly cant wait, we started High School practice a few weeks back. it will be cool to seeif Pittsburgh can do something w/ all the young players they have. Plus seeing the local team Hershey Bears defend the calder cup in the AHL
