It has been an exciting year in Pro Stock. Even though Allen will likely win the championship, the Summit cars continue to be the cars to beat. If AJ can continue this level of performance for more than one year, then the Mopar car(s) will be the cars to beat in the future. I am super happy for Allen and his family. They hung in there...campaigning a car with little or no research available to them. Of all the competitors in Pro Stock, he did it the hard way. Now is the time of his reward.
Both fought a never ending, uphill battle. Both (Ford & Mopar) were considered "Brand X" at times. I remember WJ referring to the Dodge cars as "Jeeps" numerous times.
I think I'll send WJ a new Jeep sales brochure for Christmas. He can finally have his first HEMI!
I think it's cool that AJ gets to win it with his Dad after all the years together. Also for Roy tuning his son's car to his first Pro Stock championship, it doesn't get much better than that. Congrats to AJ, Roy and the rest of the team!
Couldn't happen to a better family, congrats to the Johnson family. I got to congratulate Allen after the race in Vegas, he is such an appreciative and humble guy.
Love this from the nhra.com results summary after AJ's 3rd Q run today:
It is obvious that Johnson will be the new champion, but it won't be official until the final qualifying session since it is remotely possible he could be bumped from the field. It is also remotely possible that all the air in the room will end up over in the corner and we will all suffocate. About the same odds.
