well I think it's time to realize that 300mph fuel racing is pricing itself out of existence. there's no need to go that fast to put on a great nitro show. NHRA's continued resistance to redesigning these cars , going back to 1320, and controlling costs is killing the sport. I hope AHRA has a show in Florida, I'll go there before I watch 1000' nitro again.
every other form of motorsport has had to realize that the performance and cost levels they once attained are not sustainable over the long term.
indy car racing - you'll never see a 240mph lap again
nascar - forget ever seeing 212 mph at daytona again
for two examples.
nascar limited performance and costs and look at them. no harm done in fact just the opposite.
there's no reason not to have 250 mph fuel cars running a 1/4 mile, not oiling down the track, and putting on consistent shows that could be shown on tv live. and who cars if a/fuel cars run that fast. the nationwide cars run as fast as the sprint cars at daytona and no one cares.
until they do that, more sponsors will leave and I just don't know why they don't get it. it's too expensive, dangerous, and much faster than it needs to be.
it's a show isn't it? they still run it like a club.
just my opinion from the stands.
