Very sad indeed. I grew up less than a half hour from the track. Was there all the time in the 70's. Moved to the Midwest in 1980. Went to the Summernationals in 1981 and again in 1992. Had I known it was going to be sold, I would have made sure to go one more time.

I kinda hate watching videos like this, cuz reminds me that every track I went to in SoCalif (except Pomona) is gone. I hated when they closed Lions, that hurt the most. Even here in Arizona, have lost the old Tucson Dragway and Speedworld. arghhhhh

So what's the deal? I find it hard to believe someone committed $75Mil over 15 years to never even use the land. Did the Napps ever run any Motocross or Jr.Drags on the other tracks? Or did they really just sell the whole deal to a future developer? Maybe I missed all these answers somewhere, but either way, it sure does suck.

Looks like they still run all kinds of stuff ... motorcross, karting, drifting, fun run / endurance events, and car shows. Just no drag racing at all.

Me and my family moved back to the east Coast in 2017 I think it was the wendsday of the summer nats when we got to our hotel. We wanted to go but everybody was tried it was going to be my first time going to E-Town in 2018 but can’t can’t go now my dad went there as a kid sure wish we would’ve gone very sad

E-town was on a downward spiral when the "High-end" homes were built and the yuppies started complaining about the noise.

The wife and I make the Grove a staple every year. Its almost like therapy, as the ride up from Virginia is one of the most beautiful and relaxing you can make. The setting for the race is pretty unbelievable out in the middle of nowhere Very unassuming if you just came upon it.
This year we went out of our way to get to Shady Maple, but it was packed! Maybe we'll try and go earlier next year ;-)

The trailer manufacture that built Jim Dunns trailer is just 20 miles from Shady Maples, and between the Charlotte race and the Las Vegas race I went there to get some work done on the trailer... so during that week I made 3 trips to Shady Maples. On race weekends we never have the time to go there for breakfast but I had heard how good it was so I made sure to try it out and it was just as good as their dinner. But, Wed night prime rib is still my favorite.

Yea there’s a few Cecil county Dragway is about 30 minuets away from me maple grove isn’t to far away either about 2 hours away I’m glad I live on the east Coast a lot of races near by Thunder Valley is a days drive vmp a days drive summit motorsports park a days drive New England Dragway not to far ether the only east Coast tracks I’ve been to are Cecil county and maple grove

What a waste. I've always felt that if you buy a house built near a drag strip that preceded the house's existence, it should be disclosed before purchase and you should have to sign a waiver saying you can never, ever complain about the noise.
