Damn, that was hard to read. I've never met him but have always been a big fan. That article took me by surprise, as somehow I thought he was going through a tough recovery, but a recovery nonetheless. All I can say is Pat is a hero in this sport, a guy who has driven the wheels off everything he climbed in, and could build 'em as well.

Thanks for posting the link Jackie.

Thank You Cindy for writing a wonderful memory of how a lot of us feel about Patty Faster.

I'm glad Pat's doing it his way.

And now the last line in my blog makes more sense to some.

This one is going to be hard to let go of. It just seems that Patty has ALWAYS been there, and to think we'll all miss another of his famous WTFs is just too much to bear. For those that don't know Foster, he's one of those guys that folks with evil racecars went to and said, 'Hey Pat, drive this POS and tell us what's wrong with it!'. He would drive the car. Tell the owner what was wrong with it and then FIX IT FOR THEM! He was a master driver AND a master craftsman. His handle on the Setzer Vega will NEVER be forgotten...I hope. Until we wind up where your going Foster remember to 'Count to five and duck' and 'Sit low' my friend. We'll all be along sooner or later.

Sigh...anyone want to take a vote on the kind of year our racers have been having on 2008. Pretty damn hard so far thanks!:(

BTW, we all owe a big debt of gratitude to Cindy Arias(Gibbs) for the HUGE effort she put forward before and during the 'March Meet' to help out Foster's family. No one, including me, knows just how many hours and how much effort she put into the Foster family fund raising the ended at that event!

You're right Darryl.

Sometimes it was fun to go to the track, just to see who's mess Patty was in on a given weekend.... or Wednesday night.

Not even sure if it was funner to watch Pat makes a pass or hang by the car just absorbing the 'wisdom'.

740 :)

This is going to be a hard one to get past! Just way to many have gone on in the past year or so. Men that helped us do it right and make it mean something when we were just "havin fun" back in the day.

Pat Foster you will be missed by an entire generation of "OLD FARTS"!

Great letter and story about a great man. Thanks for sharing what had to be tough emotions.
