I'm not sure on the numbers, but there are still plenty of blown alky cars. Jim Whitely just won the championship in his. As far as which is cheaper, I've read cases for both. Bottom line, they both cost a LOT, that's even before tearing s**t up.
While I would put Demke near the top, what hole have you been in not to mention Whiteley as the BADDEST Blown dragster out there.
Demke would be considered the second baddest blown car. Jim Whiteley's is a step above the Demke/Maddern team. While Chris has a quicker best ET. Whiteley has run more 5.20's than any other blown car out there. and won the championship two weeks ago. The first blown car to win since Santos over a decade ago.
Shawn Cowie should be back next year and he will be in the mix. Likely would have won the title last year if not for his terrible motorcycle accident with a drunk driver. Ken Perry, Joey Severance, Marty Thacker and Mike Kosky are also right up there as quality blown cars. The top two (Whiteley and Demke) and Cowie can win at any track in almost any conditions.

This is the first year in what 6-7 years since a Blown car has won the championship! Duane Shields is the only A/Fuel driver I can think of that was competitive as a Blown car before switching, most couldn't run the numbers!
Parity among different combinations is almost impossible to achieve, but it seems like the A/Fuelers & blown cars are finally very close. At different tracks and weather conditions, one seems to have an advantage over the other, but overall it seems to average out fairly. Dean mentioned a bunch of great blown cars, Marty Thacker's is one of my favorites, his car often leaves the line with the front wheels way up in the air, and carries it for quite a ways.
