Let's hope not!It sounds like the west coast will get to have a 4 wide also.
With Alan's job, like anyone else's job, you "ride for the brand" or you look for a new job. Alan is what almost every employer is looking for. Loyal to the brand. Many employers would not allow their employee's to be on a message board like this to start with.

it's 8 years old now and more fans seem to show up for this race than their 'playoff' fall race.....it's been this way for
a few years now.....honestly, i can't make it thru 4 pro classes anymore....stockers, FC and TF are about all i'm in stands for.
i think 4 wide would be great to spectate.

The 4 wides are great to watch and to have been a participant. I love them. If a driver can't figure out the simple starting system, just maybe he/she shouldn't be in the car to begin with. As for TV watchers tape the show so you can replay in slow motion and/or stop the action so that you can keep up.
Yes, we southerners like the 4 wides much more than the standard 2 and the attendance every year points that out.

I agree and I'm really starting to enjoy this race.
'until u actually have to drive a nitro car in a 4 wide race yourself, that's an unfair statement !

I would like to see it live or on TV. Live is unlikely as it is a long trip for me and other races are of a higher priority. Watching it on TV is impossible; I have Comcast. Those thieves can't get anything right except collecting their outrageous fees.

just sayin' for someone to tell others something is easy when they themselves have never done it (drive/stage a nitro dragster in 4 wide racing format) Then .........

Are you saying that someone who has been intimately involved in the sport longer than I have been alive is not qualified to make that statement, or are you saying there is no one qualified to make that statement unless they have driven a nitro car at the 4 wides?
Either position is absolutely ridiculous. I have not, nor likely ever will strap in a nitro car at the 4 wides, but I can certainly tell you which drivers I would want in a car and which ones I wouldn't. As a long time nitro team owner, I would definitely trust Virgil's judgment on who should be in a car.
As for the 4 wide themselves, I am OK with it. Breaks up the monotony, and once a year is just about right.
To me the headline was "4 Wides Prove Jeggie is Human". To see Jeggie cut a light that starts with "6" was an absolute jaw dropper.

All nitro teams know how long it takes each team from start up to staging down to seconds. All four cars do their thing and come to within a few inches of pre-stage, when they are ready to move into stage the crewmember raises their hand to signify that they are ready to move into the lights, when 4 hands go up they move into pre-stage. There are 4 pre-stage and stage lights on each tree. Each driver should be aware of what lane they are in and should watch that set of lights. Once one car stages, then the other three have 7 seconds to stage. When the 4th car goes in the starting lights are activated on a random timer. It looked like yesterday they were pretty quick lights but the drivers should have been ready to leave.
For some reason it seems the Pro Stock drivers have had the most difficulty since the beginning of the 4 wides. And I am sure the problem could be defined and cured with some study. I am also sure it isn't the 4 wide staging system or lights.
The quickest cars that I have driven personally were TAD and TAFC. But I decided a long time ago that I preferred being outside the car rather than driving, and also that other drivers could make my cars perform much better than I could. Over the years I have worked with many drivers and crewmembers, many using my equipment to get licensed. From CDL's (Del Worsham and Jimbo Ermolovich to name a couple) to TF and FC license runs (Besides Rhonda, Richard and John, people like Alan Bradshaw and Terry McMillan). You see natural talent from the 1st run for some to others that have to be told they would be better off not driving again.
Statements I make are just my opinion. I have a right to express my opinions just as everyone else in this great country. It doesn't hurt my feelings to be told I am wrong, as I have been wrong many times in my life, but not nearly as many times as I have been right.

Thought I would like it, even went to the first one and meh. The feeling and sound were cool but had no clue what happened. To me, it was a let down.
Decided to watch it on TV for a few years and that really made me hate it. I ended up just not watching that race.
Decided to flip it on and watch it this year. Still don't care for it but it's only 1 race a year.
I wish it were a specialty non-points event as I hate to see once a year staging issues create problems for teams.

The other side of the coin is, if there are staging issues, everyone has the same issues to overcome. Like many have said, for one race a year, I think it adds some spice to the series. Kind of like the Mile-Highs, whole different tune-up required just for that one weekend, and some adapt better than others. Looked like a very strong crowd Sat-Sun, so seems like it's getting a nice following.
