That’s not the point IMO. These days records are broken by thousandths of a second and tenths of a mph. How long did it take from the first 299 at the 1/8 till we got 300? I think it was close to 8 years! Now Grubnic jumps it 5 mph? That’s crazy stuff.
My favorite jump was when the record was 308 and LaHaie and Scott went 316!

Incredible. Must be really good weather and the closeness to sea level there. Good for them!
DA was 358 last night. Had the ambient temp been a bit warmer (58, track 75) I think we would have seen several low/mid 3.60 times.

Notice Brittany's numbers down low were great but not otherworldly and not any better than the low-mid 330mph cars. But from about 400 feet on, look out. I bet when that clutch went 1:1 it set her back in that seat like a rocket booster.

Speed wins rounds. Consistency wins championships. I’m more impressed with Tony Stewart’s consistency this year.

Screw your 8th mile,if they change to that im done. I dont even support local 8th mile,if your a 1/4 mile track run qtr mile, except for fuel cars
No need to be concerned over something that's never going to happen.

Local 1/8 mile works because the spectators can see the entire race; it's cheaper for the racers, most of who are local, unsponsored racers on a budget, it's become the standard for the big/small tire and no-prep stuff and many tracks (including ours) sit on property that can't handle 1/4 mile racing. And the incremental 305mph to the 660 is a hell of an accomplishment, regardless of how you look at it.

We went through all of this when the purists said they'd never attend another national event after the switch to 1000 feet 17 years ago. Some people still don't like it. Myself, I'm OK with 3.64/343 but maybe that's just me.

I know just how OLD I am ALAN😉 when, I remember at Lions hearing from the announcer yelling WOW 150 mph for a dragster.😩
Larry Sutton---🤠
I hear ya...at age 13 I was a big drag racing fan and when I heard our local racer Eddie Hill ran 202 with his twice-engined AA/GD I nearly lost my mind. That was 63 years ago. Nowadays we have V-twin. NA-on-gasoline motorcycles routinely running that fast.
