I can get him as far as Dallas! I was going to suggest to him that we should try to plan on making Phoenix next year. You guys would really get along.

Plus, he's as big of a coffee addict as I am! You guys will have TWO people to laugh at when they have headaches by noon! :D

LOL.........Ron calls me from various points around the globe to have me order his Starbucks for him.

I cannot disclose exactly WHAT I am ordering for him, outliving my usefulness, otherwise he MAY bring me to afore mentioned "motel", by chance, that I may never be seen, nor heard from, again:eek:;)

Yeah, Bobby's the runt of the family, too! :D

Rex ain't lyin'. I made fun of Starbucks for years, then they took me into one. Of course they had to order for me. That stuff's in Chinese or something. Naturally, it had to end up being a VERY good cup of coffee! Like he says, once ever so many months, I end up at a Starbucks, I call and ask him how to order it! Some chocolate mint grande latte freakin' money something or another.

This is as heavy as I have ever been in my life. Sorry for the major derailment of your great news Joey! I'm still very proud of your accomplishments and I can't wait to see you and get my hands on Rex.:D

That's a great looking pic, Bobby. I can't wait to see you get your hands on Rex, too! :D

He might want to drink a latte grande espresso cappucino or two first! :)

Joe, I just put this thread and your thread about insomnia together. When did you start having problems sleeping? Are you exercising before bed or early in the day? I wouldn't say stop walking, but maybe get up earlier and do it then or at lunch time?

The Insomnia seems to come and go, as of now I'm sleeping pretty good. About every 2 months I get the sleepless nights, I'm hoping the weight loss will eliminate all of that...;)

I never met a bricklayer who would back down from anything. I know I wouldn't and I doubt you would.
The Mater Motel is our guest room where Maters occasionally stop in for a visit. The rent is always free, the food always marginal and the company is questionable at best. Most all are welcome should they choose Phoenix for a stop (hemorrhoids excluded) and most who have taken us up on the offer have left with a smile on their faces. You can just ask Ron!

We now return you to your regularly scheduled weight loss celebration where our own Joe Sherwood is feeling better, looking better and even sleeping better. Again, congrats Joe. It's an awesome feat!

Some people drink alcohol to get bulletproof. Rex just goes to Starbucks. :D

BTW, you gave me an idea up there, Rex. Next time I'm in one, I'm just going to hand the phone across the counter! That, or put it on speaker! :D

My metabolism started to slow down in my mid 30's, so I expanded into 32" waist pants, and have been there ever since. My metabolism is still at a point that I lose weight if I don't intake about 3000 calories a day. I'm 6'1", and on a good day will tip the scales at 160. Most folks might think that is pretty skinny, but when I was 18, I was the same height, weighed 122. ....kinda looked like a rake with clothes on. Finding 32/34 pants is sometimes a hassle (32" waists seem to be much more common with shorter inseams), but finding 28/34 pants was much tougher when I was a kid. :)

As to Starbucks, I'm not sure what they call it, but they have a white chocolate latte that is wonderful! 785 calories each. I'd have no problem drinking two or three a day! :)

Dittos on hard to find pants as a kid, easier as an adult! 38x30 now but, was 30 or 32x30 as a teenager. I've got short legs and a long back for being 6 ft. Many people shorter than me have hips higher than mine. I've heard it's the Cherokee side of the family. :)

Concerning insomnia. Joe, have you tried reading, etc? I know there's an inverse thing with your mind and body. If you try to stay awake to watch a movie, that's when it's often hard to. Why they say to NOT try to sleep if you want to. If you're thinking about it, it's harder to do.

Ask Rex how that concept works with hiccups. I told him a trick and he tried it on a stranger in the Bristol stands. When someone has the hiccups, immediately pull out a five, couple of ones, whatever, and offer it to them for their next hiccup. You'll watch the person's face contort as they try and can't! If you try to hiccup, you can't do it. If you think about it, they always go away after you stop thinking about them going away.

Heh, yeah.

On occasion I have had to make a point with someone on the job, not very much hollering, I try to remain professional.

I will be "strongly" urging them to come back into compliance, and realize they are looking at the blade part of my trowel.

You forget you have it in your hand, and I'll tell ya' what, I can slice a brick EXACTLY where I want to, no hammer needed, kinda' like one of those oriental chefs that chop stuff up at your table without missing a beat.

So I guess pointing it at someone (like their nose:eek:) sometimes can be a......a, well, calming influence :) ..........so to speak.

Of course the maniacal look I get on my face whilst beating a chimney to death with a sledgehammer to break it apart may be another causal effect..........

All in all I really don't have issues with anyone, of course my wife, with a background in tournament Judo (multiple victories, occasionally against men in her weight class) scares me to death..........:o

T-REX

Congratulations y'all! I seem to be going the other direction.....keep blaming it on the dirtbike wreck. Um, that was November and I seem to be all healed up. I can't seem to use that Glider for anything other than drying pantyhose!

That is awesome, Joe, that way you'll look great next time we get on TV together while trying to get a good pic of Scelzi doing something wacky. :D

I had knocked off about 40 pounds in 2006 but in the worst way possible: elevated blood sugar. That's what I get for letting a doc mess with my meds.

Anyway I tried the traditional method last year, pretty much six months of low fat, low carb food, my a1c dropped to a gorgeous 6 percent which would have most diabetic Americans green with envy, and my cholesterol was the lowest it had been in ages. Dropped 20 points during the first three months of the diet.

I lost seven pounds. Nearly a year later I'm down about 12 pounds. It's kind of disappointing but I'll take whatever I can get.

I am jealous of anyone who actually can lose weight when they put their mind to it. Enjoy it, Joe, it's a huge accomplishment.

I guess in August I'll try to get back into the gym. July is just too damn busy. For now I'll try not to eat too much crap. It's motivating to see other people lose weight, though, very motivating. :)

Exactly Kris , your body when faced by a large reduction of intake and content starts freaking out, thinking it's being starved and signals it's parts to shut down fuel burn till conditions improve.
Thats why you can gain 2 lb's simply by smelling fattening food !
If they ever come up with a pill to fool mother nature into thinking less intake is a good thing so your metabolism stays on high burn then fat people like me can eat all the coconut cream pies they want.
Least I can always keep my fingers crossed.

All my bad stuff went down when I lost a bunch of weight.
Last test I took the values were off a bit so my Doctor told me to be sure not to exercise for twenty four hours before the next test .
I told him unfortunately no problem there !

Hilarious!!! Most treadmills make an excellent extra clothes rack too!:D

LOL, Suzie! My wife (BTW she's a Suzi too, no 'E' though) uses our treadmill for a temporary clothing staging area as well. I happen to use it for its intended purpose although now that it is the heart of summer, I'd prefer going out on my bike for a quick 20 mile ride. Minneapolis has some great biking trails around the lakes and are easily accessed from my house.

Great job Joe on the weight loss. So you'll be leaner & meaner when I see you at Indy, right?
