2026 predictions (6 Viewers)

Sorry for the length of the post but you asked for predictions. My .02 on the 2026 season. IHRA will continue to grow, competitors (mid and low funded teams) will cross over. Better to be a big fish in a small pond than a small fish in a big pond. Spectators as well will cross over, NHRA needs to do something and do it fast to keep the mid level and lower teams in order to have any chance of full fields. ALL Motorsports need to figure out how to attract and keep Gen Y, Z and Alpha in order for the spectator base and participation base to grow. As for the BT3/Prock deal - we are all aware of how smart Jimmy is. I had the pleasure of knowing him when he worked for Bernstein then LaHaie. BT3 uses AJPE parts therefore unless a lot of the JFR intellectual property such as chassis design, cylinder head design, manifold design, blower design etc… migrated to BT3 they may not be able to hit the ground running. I’m told that while the cylinder head design is controlled by NHRA that there is a difference in flow characteristics between JFR and AJPE that is unless there was/is a migration of design. JFR will win at least half of the funny car events and only one or two top fuel events. The KB Titon vs Elite battle will continue with Elite coming out on top at the end of the year. Unfortunately there will be a Pro Mod incident that will cause all sanctioning organizations to rethink the class. The new blown nitro classes within the Alcohol classes will prove to be the undoing of the class as they will dominate and competitors will leave NHRA, the opposite effect NHRA was hoping for.

and to add to the bode story on complus, the article states an IHRA points fund. stated in article they will run 8 of 10 ihra,
and maybe up to 5 nhra. if they are doing good in ihra, then most likely they'd pick up remaining two ihra races, and nhra participation later
in year might suffer ....... so i don't recall hearing about an IHRA points fund yet? is this the first mention of one? ...... that's kind of big news,
especially if darrel has found a partner for his series.

Doug Foley will win a TF race with either HRA.
TF with Nhra will be Kalitta team.
FC will be a battle to the end. If I had to pick, it would be a toss up with Capps and Beckman.
PS will be KB/Titan dominated. Finish #1,2 and 3.
PSB is either V&H teams with Matt threatening.
TAFC It's hard to bet against the killer B's.
TAD I'll go with Jackie Fricke. Great team and got close so many times.

Just my picks. I'll look back in November 😄

This won't set well but I'm of a mindset that Top Alcohol (both TAD and TAFC) need to be exactly that, TOP ALCOHOL. Roots, screw, ProCharger, turbos - take your pick. Find or create another class for those fuel cars to compete in. Sorry, I know that would ruffle the feathers of quite a few TAD racers but Top Alcohol isn't injected nitro and it damn sure isn't supercharged nitro running neutered engines.

Not Maple Grove, Their are no nitro races at the grove for 2026
Who mentioned Maple Grove. The question was "Where are "Midwest IHRA races"???". I said Almost all of the races are in the Mid-West. I should have said East of the Mississippi.
As far as Maple Grove I have heard rumors that the TBD date is being considered for Maple Grove as a co-event with the Dutch Classic or whatever it is called on that same date.

Injected nitro was run in todays name of TAD well before it was called TAD

I believe I saw some Injected nitro FC (& dragster) run in the late 90's, IHRA style IIRC...
TAFC (and the dragster counter parts) should stand alone, I think they are mixed because of the short field thing but that's DOWN sizing and n!Tr0 is too big for that to be clumped in with, IMO.
