2026 Pomona "Winternationals" (10 Viewers)

Seems more like the Springnationals to me, based on the time of year.

Weather conditions seem pretty ideal today (Friday).

Looks like today, they are running a lot more Sportsman eliminations instead of waiting until Sat and Sun, due to the weather forecast for the weekend. This is what they did last year for the Finals. I'm sure this is the smart thing to do, but I do enjoy watching some of the Sportsman classes on Sat, so I am a little disappointed I won't get to see a lot of that action when I am there tomorrow.

I am surprised that our resident drag racing Billionaire and Pomona track sponsor is not racing in Top Sportsman this weekend, especially after she did so well in Phoenix.

Also, I don't see Angelle is racing in Top Alcohol Dragster. I don't recall who owns the car that she drives, but hasn't she usually raced at Pomona since she started driving in TA/D?

So....when was the last time there was a tire change at the pre burnout box?

Per DragRaceCentral.com coverage of 1st Rd TF Qualifying:

Kalitta picked up a nail in the staging lanes, so the team is allowed to change the rear slick. He launched hard and kept it hooked up to go to the number two spot.

The Michalek brothers out of Onio is who Angeles drives for. I don’t think they usually run the Winters. They will have both cars out for Dallas/Vegas/Pomona at the end of the season.

Looks like everyone missed their tuneups in Rd 1. Barely any good runs in any Pro class. Pro Stock even seemed a little slow. Was it the humidity? The air temp was great although the track temp seemed a little high for the conditions.

I thought Q2 was pretty good. I had a great time. Saw some good speeds, the final top fuel run here was cool.

I've stumbled on "tape delayed" coverage of Q2 Pro sessions at Pomona on Youtube.

Currently, tomorrow looks good to go weather-wise! I'll be in line at 6am to get a good parking spot.

Thanks for the "heads up" about the YouTube channel showing Q2 qualifying last night. Nice to see some racing video before Sunday for those of us not paying for NHRA-TV live feed.

One of our Arizona racers with a candidate for run of the year in the Super Gas final. Perfect run, trip zip perfect on the tree and dead on zero. Amazing!!
