2014 CHRR

It was definitely proven this past weekend that slowing down the nitro cars and going back to 1320 is not the answer for less oildowns. But, I think most probably already knew that.:D
Yeah, its hard to understand why someone like Ed Pink would advocate doing exactly that.
But the best one yet is some kat named Garlits who has advocated a one block rule during eliminations for a couple of decades now...

We only had one block in the trailer last weekend. We didn't dump any oil on the track, but we did hurt it bad enough in the first Q-session that we had to spectate the rest of the weekend. But, that's alright we have until March to fix it.

Thanks! As much as I love FED's, I love seeing the early RED's. I just wish they could somehow compete, without having to update the single hoop cage.

You know as well as I do, Eugene, that the N/FC & T/F guys run pieces that may be on the car a few (!!!) more runs than the guys in the big show... If you slow down the big show guys to get them back to 1320, they will figure out brand new ways to blow up their better gear... :D

Actually, we had a new crank and only 4 runs on the rods, and we were only trying to run a 5.95 in Q-1. But, when Alex stepped off the gas at the finish line it broke a rod. We didn't even know it broke a rod until Wade pulled the diaper off and it was full of oil. At least the diaper did it's job and kept the oil off the track. There were a lot of fans at the Reunion and they got to see some good racing.:)

But its not a 70s or 80s engine... Compare a stock 426 rod, an early Venolia rod and a current rod... Amazing differences in a hunk of metal

Isnt that most teams ran in 70s better teams ran Donavan s toward the ends. I just assumed that alot of the FC were from 70s era.

Martin, after looking into I understand what you're saying that period was a little before time but interesting. I will try to stay up on the nostalgia really cool cars.

I thought there were a lot of oil downs too (watching on BangShift).

BUT, I doubt they won't be back. The CHRR and March Meet tend to attract fans that have been around the block a time or two, and know what they might get at a drag race. It's just that now they use it as an opportunity to beat traffic -or- don't have the patience to sit there after the first couple of oil downs -or- they have said "hi" to all of the old friends, gotten their dose of nitro and are ready to go home.

Paul Flores was telling me as much as I hate seeing the Safety safari rolling, I probably wouldn't enjoy myself at the CHRR!
