We lost one of the best guitarists in the world and my personal favorite artist, Stevie Ray Vaughan. Such a shame.

Clapton just about boarded that helicopter as well.

Broke my heart. After all that Stevie had been through..finally clean and getting his due. Hard to believe it's been that long ago.

Every time I drive past the Exit for Alpine Valley, I always think about him. RIP SRV!

Dave

17 years already? A guy I worked with saw him 5 or 6 times. I never made the opportunity to go with him. Wish I had.

Boy, was he a great one or what? I only saw him once. It was at a studio in Dallas that my cousin was tracking in. Stevie and his crew were working overnight and my cuz was going in at 9:00 a.m. Although it was before he was clean (there were plenty of empty bottles left in the kitchen trash, lol), he was very cordial, laid-back, and as nice as could be. It was one of the more memorable moments of my semi-non-illustrious career in music.

RIP SRV

I remember hearing the news on the radio that fateful day. I was so sad (being a guitarist and huge SRV fan myself), that I pulled over and cried. Shortly after I saw the band Slaughter, and they dedicated "Fly to the Angels" to him.
