I'm looking at getting 1, 2 or 3 16V batteries. At least one, but i"m flexible up to 3.

Turbo start has one, and so do a couple of other manufactors, Moroso included.

Turbo starts are cheaper but I'd heard they were also going out of business. Moroso has a battery charger that can be modified to charge more than one battery at once.

Weight is not a factor.

I'll need a charger too, so that's another thing I need to consider.

Anybody have any opinions?

I'm very interested in whatever feedback you get, as I'm currently looking at them as well...

You're a little late. Turbo Start was sold off from New Castle Battery a while back. Now is known as Turbo Start division of Axion Batteries. Can buy them direct for under $200. Can buy newer charger or older Turbo Start charger for wet cell batteries which can easily be converted to charge the newer AGM batteries (wet cell no longer available). See turbostart.com

I knew that, I just forgot to mention it. ;)

Chris, this is what I know from the guy who sells the batteries.

More voltage means that your Water Pump and Fuel Pump have more voltage and there for more output.

If you run an alternator, it would have to be reconfigured for the 16V battery. East Coast Electric sells them.

While a typical battery would not crank the car over if it's under 9 volts, the 16V apparently will.

It weighs roughly 42 pounds and has the basic dimensions of a 24 series battery.

Thanks, Jenn. I know WHY to have a 16v system, I really only have two questions: 1) are most electronics (dedenbear box, racepak stuff, etc.) OK with it, and 2) who's battery and/or charger to go with.

Been running 16V for years - LOVE IT. Have been using a "V" battery that has both 12V & 16V all in the same case.

DO NOT run your gauges, box...switch panel, etc with the 16V...use the 12V side for that.....OR just get a step-down. They say you can run certain things on the 16V...but it will just burn out bulbs and stuff faster.

Our new battery for our '09 car is a S1000 - Powermaster XS Power Battery

Only 32.4 lbs.

I do not run an alternator with mine.

Thanks, Kathy, tell me more about this "step down"...

Here ya go....

The XS Power 16 Volt Step-Down module features a heavy duty aluminum heat sink, diodes, and the highest quality 8 AWG stranded wire. A fuse holder is included, that is under-hood safe, and the unit can be mounted in any location. Perfect for voltage sensitive electronics, our Step-Down has dual outputs, 2.4V and 3.6V for running with or without an alternator.
