NHRA and the committee need time to come up with a comprehensive plan to slow the cars down but keep the racing close and fast. They also need to give the tracks the ability to review their shut down areas before reinstating the full 1/4 mile. This interim (I hope) solution is just what the nitro racers needed.
The typical response is usually some knee jerk deal that costs everyone a bunch of money and parts. Not this time.
You have to admit there has been some great racing even though it's 1,000 feet.
