[coverattach=1]Event: 10th annual Thunder Valley NHRA Nationals Location: Bristol Dragway, Bristol, TN Day/Date: Sunday, June 20, 2010 Entering Sunday’s final eliminations of the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals, Summit Racing Pro Stock driver Jason Line knew he faced an uphill battle in his pursuit of a second Bristol Dragway win. After qualifying 10th, he knew he would be relegated to the less-preferred right hand lane for his first round encounter against rookie Shane Gray. In addition, they would be racing in the worst conditions of the weekend, with the high heat and humidity robbing their race cars of valuable horsepower. Fortunately, Line and his KB Racing crew were up to the challenge, combining a slight starting line...

After defeating local racer Rickie Smith Saturday evening, Stivers was paired with current points leader Von Smith for the second time this season. In their first meeting, Smith came out ahead but had to dig deep to beat the Kentucky entrepreneur and horse farmer. In today's action, Stivers again fell to the eventual event champion but was pleased with the advancement of his team and car in the process. At the stripe, Smith...

[coverattach=1]NO BRISTOL BIRTHDAY PRESENT FOR CAPPS BRISTOL, Tenn. (June 20, 2010) - Ron Capps did not receive a birthday present today from Bristol Dragway, as he was bounced in the opening round of Funny Car eliminations by last weekend's Englishtown, N.J., winner Bob Tasca III. Sunday dawned with predictions of temperatures even hotter than Saturday’s, and despite 90-degree ambient heat, the track produced a number of solid non-tire-smoking runs in the first round. As No. 10 qualifier, Capps posted a good pass but fell victim to the luck of the draw by having to face the No. 7 qualifier without lane choice. The pair launched wheel-to-wheel (.082 reaction time for Capps, .080 for Tasca - .000 is perfect), but Tasca's...
