CAYUGA, ONTARIO (June 19, 2010) - When Eric Latino won the Pro Modified Racing Association's season opener at the Cayuga Dragway May 23, he became the 17th driver to win a PMRA event in the series' six years of racing.

The win for the Port Perry, Ontario racer was his first in PMRA competition.

At present, three-time champion Bruce Boland of Hamilton, Ontario has the most number of wins with five. His first win came at Lancaster in 2005 and a co-win at New York International Raceway Park near Rochester with Mike Stawicki in 2008.
Boland then won three events in 2009 at Cayuga and Grand Bend.

Stawicki, of Medina, New York is next with four wins. Along with his 2008 co-win with Boland, Stawicki has won at Cayuga in 2005, and then at both Lancaster and Cayuga in 2008.

Joe Boniferro of Niagara Falls, Ontario became the first multiple-event winner in PMRA history, winning the Grand Bend rounds in both 2006 and 2007.

Carl Spiering, of Jordan Station, Ontario, won the first-ever PMRA event back in May of 2005, and has a co-win with Joe Lilienthal at Sanair in 2006 for two victories.

Lilienthal, of Kenmore, New York, won the 2005 Luskville event along with the co-win with Spiering at Sanair.

Aside from Boland's domination of 2009, the victors in the PMRA have been widely varied, and has provided interesting racing. About the Pro Modified Racing Association (PMRA):
The Pro Modified Racing Association, PMRA ~ Pro Modified Racing Association, was organized late in 2004, started racing operations in 2005, and is entering its sixth year of operation in 2010. The PMRA is a self-governing organization with input from its teams, and adheres to the technical and safety rules as outlined by the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) and the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA).

In 2010 the PMRA will compete at Toronto Motorsports Park in Cayuga, Ontario and the South-western Ontario track of the Grand Bend Motorplex.

Cars in the PMRA capture the true spirit of hot rodding, and the class is one of drag racing's most exciting and colorful classes, offering a diverse group of race cars with 2,500-horsepower-plus engines in supercharged, nitrous-powered, or turbocharged format.

Combining classic body styles and modern equipment, constructors are permitted, within established rules and parameters, to modify and enhance the cars in both appearance and performance. The cars are fuelled by gasoline or methanol, propelling them down the quarter-mile in low six-second times at over 230 miles per hour. The PMRA provides drag race fans the opportunity to see, hear, and experience the popular Pro Modifieds, known as "the world's fastest door slammers".

Several of the PMRA events are run in conjunction with the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts, Quick 32 Sportsman Series, offering fans a great show of drag racing.
