Just moments after watching his son, Ty, win in Pro Junior Dragster at the completion of the American Drag Racing League (ADRL) Simpson Dragstock VII on Friday, Todd Tutterow had only one thought before his Pro Extreme final. I just knew I needed to do my job,” said Tutterow, the 2009 World Champion. Tutterow followed suit, beating Joshua Hernandez with a 3.85 in the Pro Extreme final at Summit Motorsports Park to give the Tutterow family two memorable wins in one night. “This is wonderful,” Tutterow said. “It is very special when you got your family with you for something like this.” Other winners at Dragstock VII, which was completed on Friday after rain postponed the event two weeks ago in Rockingham, included Doug...
Sometimes things don’t work out the way the blue-print was drawn. It is at this time where the best course of action is to take an inventory of what you have, learn from the mistakes made and build for the future. This is precisely what Spiro Kontos’ Top Alcohol Funny Car team plans to do this winter from their new Maple, Ont. Canada based shop. The 2010 season began for the Kon Rodz team with high expectations, a two-car TAFC team and tons of motivation to capture a few round wins. Unfortunately, due to economic cut-backs, mistakes made and simple bad luck, the hi-spirited team ended their 2010 campaign with one car, a rookie driver and still looking for their first round win. However, their team driver Cassie Simonton...
Dan Myers has his work cut out for him this weekend if he wants to finish second in the final points standings for the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association’s 2010 season. Only 17 points keeps him from the number 2 spot but he has to get past two big hitters with Jay Diedrich sitting in 3rd place and WCOPMA president Rod Burbage in 2nd. Dan has had his fair share of up’s and down’s this season while running with the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mods and a top 5 finish is already guaranteed, but finishing second in points with one of the quickest, fastest and closest racing associations on the west coast would make his year. 17 points is not a lot, it is less than one round. So for Dan to clinch that #2 spot he will have to go one round...
Folsom, Ca – It has been close to a year since Don Carter last had his 41 Willys at a race track. Since November, the car has been stripped down and has had a couple of fresh coats of bright red paint sprayed on it. Weight has been removed and the engine completely rebuilt. This weekend will be the cars first outing this 2010 season and Bob Bunker Jr. will once again be behind the wheel. Carter and Bunker Jr. had planned to get the car ready for the Street Car Super Nationals event in Las Vegas in November but figured some testing and seat time would be better first. The crew has spent long hours this past week getting everything put together to make the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association’s final event for the 2010 season, the...

Pinks All Out rolled into Infineon Raceway this past weekend for the second time in three years and brought out some of the best around. Mike Henry, in his 1981 Gotelli Speed Shop sponsored Kustom Koffin Camaro went there for one purpose and that was to be the Quick 8 winner at the end of the day. After recently developing his own engine program with the help of pro mod team owner Luther Lane, Henry knew he had the power to get the job done. He rolled into the first qualifying session with a 7.25 off the tree and backed it up with a 7.22 off the arm drop in the second session. Once the ladder was set Henry was #2 behind Justin Wake in his beautiful 1968 Camaro with a 7.05. " My son really was the one who pushed me to go and I'm...
GATES LOOKING TO CLINCH PAFCA TITLE AT SACTO Carlsbad, Calif. – For 43 year old Alcohol Funny Car driver Eric Gates, the road to clinching a series championship has not been as straight as the quarter-mile drag strips he races in the Pro Alcohol Funny Car Association. In some aspects, it’s been more like a roller coaster. But as the Fallbrook, Calif. resident likes to remind himself, his family and friends, he is blessed with the opportunity to take a ride regardless of the outcome or struggles. Gates cut his teeth at drag strips in Minnesota and NHRA Division 5, when his father John, who passed away in 2008, worked with the Smith Brothers & Fetrow AA/Funny Car of the early 1970’s. The family then moved to Iowa...
