Firebaugh, Ca – Jay Diedrich was torn earlier in the season when he saw that the final West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association event and the final West Coast Hot Rod Association event were booked on the same weekend. Diedrich has been a big contender and supporter this 2010 season with both the WCOPMA and in the WCHRA’s Pro Street class. So to him, only one thing was to be done, figure out a way to attend both events and support both associations. Diedrich has his eye on second place in points with both associations. Bret Williamson wrapped up the number 1 spot with the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mods and Randy Walker will be leaving the big number 1 on his windshield for the WCHRA’s Pro Street class as he wrapped up the top spot for the...
The fifth annual Don Schumacher Racing Open House generated more than $16,000 in donations for Riley Hospital for Children. The successful Sept. 3, 2010, event saw thousands of race fans visit the DSR shop and contribute to Indiana’s only comprehensive hospital dedicated exclusively to the care of children. Two days after DSR drivers Tony Schumacher, Cory McClenathan, Antron Brown, Jack Beckman and Matt Hagan visited patients at Riley, patrons to the annual DSR Open House raised more than $16,000 via live and raffle auctions and other donations. The relationship between DSR and Riley continues to be one of the more thriving charitable affiliations in motor sports as DSR has helped generate more than $106,000 for Riley over the past...
ROCKINGHAM, NC (September 10, 2010 – It was a record-breaking day on Friday at Rockingham Dragway, as several drivers did their best to rewrite history at the American Drag Racing League (ADRL) Simpson Dragstock VII. None, however, did it better than Frankie Taylor, who re-established his place as the fastest man in the ADRL. The “Madman” had hoped to become the first Pro Extreme driver to run in the 3.5s, and his bold prediction leading up to the race came true, as he went a blistering 3.596 at 210.64 miles per hour to jump to the No. 1 qualifying spot through three qualifying rounds on Friday. “It felt good. To do it with the sun out was pretty cool,” Taylor said. “I wanted to be the first in the 50s, so that’s pretty cool...
ROCKINGHAM, NC (September 10, 2010) — After a difficult summer in his new 2011 Mustang, Extreme 10.5 Dan Millen found something to smile about on Friday at the American Drag Racing League (ADRL) Simpson Dragstock VII in Rockingham. The Al-Anabi Racing driver became the fifth and final member of the distinguished Mickey Thompson 3-Second Club, going 3.951 at 199.20 miles per hour in his first qualifying run at notoriously fast Rockingham Dragway. “It’s been a rough season and I have to thank a lot of people,” Millen said. “Of course, KH (Al-Anabi Racing owner KH Al-Thani) and also (Pro Extreme driver) Todd Tutterow. He’s really helped us a lot and taught me a lot about this combination. We finally got it. We knew we had something...
(9-10-2010) Laguna Hills, California – After returning home from an exciting but grueling five-day stretch at the prestigious Mac Tools NHRA U.S. Nationals held at O’Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis, Danny Rowe and the Sterling Bridge-backed Pro Modified team are looking forward to the next event on the Get Screened America NHRA Pro Mod Drag Racing Series 10-race schedule after a disappointing second-round exit at the “Big Go”. All was not lost, though, as Rowe and the Jimmy Rector-led team posted an impressive 5.930 at 247.16mph to secure the No. 5 qualifying spot in the ultra competitive field before besting Mike Knowles in the opening round of action to secure placement in Monday’s Labor Day elimination day. In the...

MAPLE, ONTARIO (September 8, 2010) – Pro Modified Racing Association driver Vito Montesano had a benchmark weekend during the recent Teamsters Union “Thunder by the Beach” event at the Grand Bend Motorplex. The driver of the 1968 Chevrolet Camaro Pro Modified nailed down the number one qualifying spot with a 5.887-second, 238.53-mph in the large field of cars during the Marydel Homes Qualifying Session. With his pass, Montesano becomes the second driver in PMRA history to run under six seconds. But the Montesano Camaro is equipped with a LencoDrive converter driven transmission in place of the more familiar Clutch with a Lenco three-speed gearbox, and this is the first time a car so-equipped has reached the 5.8 second...
Indianapolis, Sept. 5, 2010 - The NHRA US Nationals is drag racing's crown jewel. And every racer that enters the Labor Day classic brings their "A game" as well as plenty of parts in the trailer. One of NHRA's best teams in the Top Alcohol Dragster division is arguably the Shortline Express team of Duane Shields. Shields brought his "A game" to Indy but knew this wasn't just another drag race. "We came into Indy on top of our game but so did everyone else. There are no easy opponents filling out the rest of the field. It's competitive from top to bottom" Shields said. Just to drive home his point, twenty-four cars competed for just sixteen spots with a competitive 5.42 being the bump spot. Shields qualified in the top half...
