Matt Hagan came out of a tension-filled, emotionally-exhausting NHRA Finals in Pomona, Calif., as the 2010 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series Funny Car runner-up to now 15-time world champion John Force. Hagan, racing the DieHard Dodge Charger Funny Car in his second full year in the class for Don Schumacher Racing, watched his 38-point lead diminish at this final event of the year after his first-round defeat at the hands of Bob Tasca III, while leading, when a failed piston at the 660-foot mark slowed him to a 4.162-second lap at 290.44 mph. Tasca passed him to win with a 4.148/303.57 run. Force won the first round, then won again in the second round, earning him the lead and the crown. "It's like I told ESPN a few seconds...

While it’s safe to say a first-round loss in Sunday’s Auto Club NHRA Finals is not how TJ Zizzo and the PEAK/Herculiner NHRA Full Throttle Series Top Fuel team wanted to end their 2010 season, their limited-schedule campaign has had several positives. Career firsts for the Illinois native include qualifying for every event he has entered (seven) and career highs in qualifying position (sixth), ET (3.85), and top speed (312 mph). “What a wonderful season we’ve had,” Zizzo said in his pit after the loss to Cory McClenathan. “From qualifying 16th, 15th, maybe 14th, to qualifying in the top half of the field, we’ve had an awesome season. We’ve really learned a lot about this racecar. Went to Atlanta and really capitalized on that and...
Greg Anderson and the Summit Racing team completed a remarkable season on Saturday, winning the 2010 Pro Stock championship in the NHRA’s Full Throttle Drag Racing Series. By qualifying fourth for Sunday’s final eliminations of the Auto Club Finals, Anderson built an insurmountable lead over defending champion Mike Edwards to claim the fourth championship of his career, first since 2005 and first under the Countdown to One playoff format instituted in 2007. “This has certainly been the most trying and absolutely the most rewarding season that I have ever had in drag racing, and one I will certainly never forget,” said Anderson. “I know they say your first championship is always the most special, but considering how hard this...

Bluebaugh Racing's Team Magna Fuel is busy preparing for another fantastic year at the Street Car Super National's in Las Vegas, November 18-21, 2010. Bluebaugh said "We look forward to this race every year and the opportunity to run with the nation's very best cars in our class. As a West Coast team, this is a big deal for us practically right in our back yard. While we are far from the fastest team expected to show up, it's an exciting accomplishment to simply make the field and go a round or two." Team Magna Fuel is striving again for a mid-pack position as a strategy to go as many rounds as possible. Bluebaugh and team have often found the finals from the mid-pack point as faster cars seem to fall out early. This race will be no...
