Shawn Langdon, Kalitta Air Careers Dragster​


Finals Broadcast Replay (eastern time): 10 p.m. – 1 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21 on FS1

Qualifying: Shawn Langdon was the No. 1 qualifier at the Texas NHRA FallNationals. Langdon made his best run of the weekend in the Friday night qualifying session when the Kalitta Air Careers team made a 3.648-second pass at 340.39 mph. It was his career best elapsed time and NHRA’s quickest of the season. It was his eighth No. 1 qualifier of the season and the 30th of his career.

Eliminations: Langdon defeated Jake Sanders and Will Smith before losing to Antron Brown in the semifinals. Both drivers started with excellent reaction times, but Brown edged Langdon by .021 seconds at the finish line to end Langdon’s day. Brown’s win ended Langdon’s 18-elimination round win streak and four race win streak. Today’s final round was just the third round of the season, and the first since the Norwalk, Ohio final round on June 28, that did not include a Kalitta Motorsports Top Fuel dragster.

Unofficial Point Standings: Langdon leaves Texas in first place in the NHRA Top Fuel point standings. He leads his teammate, Doug Kalitta, by 139 points with two races remaining in the season.

Langdon on Texas: “We’re obviously disappointed not to get the win in the semifinals, but we just lost a good race – no reason to hang our heads. Today doesn’t take anything away from how good this Kalitta Air team is or what we’ve done this year so we’ll head to Vegas and see what we can do there. Thanks to Kalitta Air, Gerber, Mobil 1 and Revchem for supporting us all year. We have a nice points lead so that’s good, but I’m not worried about that. We just got to go do our thing, and it’s going to be what it’s going to be. We’ll continue to treat each run as it is, continue to stick to the game plan, get those little bonus points, and hopefully, we can get the job done at the end of the season.”
