J.R. Todd, DHL Funny Car
Finals Broadcast Replay (eastern time): 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, May 20 on FS2
Qualifying: J.R. Todd was the No. 6 qualifier at the Gerber Collision & Glass Route 66 NHRA Nationals. His best qualifying run was his first attempt Friday afternoon when he made a 3.942-second pass at 332.26 mph.
Eliminations: Todd defeated Daniel Wilkerson in the first round and raced Austin Prock in the second. Todd was off the starting line first, but the DHL GR Supra smoked the tires almost immediately. Prock smoked the tires further down the track, but the 2018 Funny Car champion could not catch him.
Unofficial Point Standings: Todd leaves Chicago tied with Ron Capps for first place in the NHRA Funny Car point standings. The two lead third-place Matt Hagan by nine points.
Todd on Chicago: “Frustrating end to the day here in Chicago. We had the speed but just couldn’t get it done in round two. We’re still high in points; that shows the strength of this DHL GR Supra team. We’ll learn from today and be ready to throw down in Maryland. Thanks to the Yella Fellas for all their hard work and to all our partners for making it happen.”
