I have known about this and other "charities" where all the money raised is not distributed to the supposed recipient(s). The bigger question to me is how can the U.S. our send troops overseas to defend our freedom (?) and then they are not there to ensure the troops and their families who return home with injuries or in a body bag are taken care of for the rest of their lives? I feel that anyone who defends our country and is injured or worse, should never have to worry about financial issues in their lives, as they have laid their life on the line for their country. Especially with all the governmental waste that currently exists in Washington, D.C. Just sayin'.

Most charities are just cleverly disguised tax shelters. This is now the hot setup for athletes and Hollywood types to bypass their taxes and give high paying jobs to friends and family members while keeping more of their money.
While the spirit behind large charities such as WWP, United Way, Susan G Komen, etc can make for a feel good story, it is ALWAYS better to donate local. A quick Google search should return a smaller, local charity for your cause of choice. Much smaller overhead (which means more money to the cause) with the added bonus of helping someone in your own community.

I have stopped giving to most charities because the thought of .94 cents going to the people who run these charities and the what's left going to help people makes me sick.

It's a sad situation, but just a fact of life. As posted earlier, so many of these "foundations" are just tax dodges--Clinton "Foundation" comes to mind. I was shocked years ago to find out what small amount United Way actually used to support those who need the help. For the most part, as said earlier, your money is better spent locally---either through your church or local support organizations. Kind of sickening to know a donation supports an overpaid executive's lavish lifestyle.
