WORSHAM QUICKEST IN Q-4, STAYS 5th ON THE GRID

Del Worsham makes no bones about the fact he likes racing at Infineon Raceway, and that sentiment is mostly due to his history of strong runs here. In the blistering heat of a late Saturday afternoon, as the Funny Car class lined up for a session which represented survival for some and tune-up honing for others, Worsham streaked to the quickest run of the group, posting a strong 4.909. It was nowhere near enough to move him out of the 5th spot, earned on Friday night with a 4.774, but it was just the run Worsham was looking for. He will face Ron Capps, yet again, in round one.

"We wanted to go A-to-B and we wanted to be at least one of the two or three quickest cars in that session, just to let whoever we're going to run tomorrow know that we know the way to the finish line," Worsham said. "It's been tricky out here all weekend, and the first session today was pretty much a massacre, with hardly any fuel cars making full laps, so that last one was critical in my mind. We needed to show ourselves what we could do, and that was just the way to do it. Now, here we go again running Capps. It is what it is, and we have a little history at this track, so we'll go out there and do all we can to get a win over him tomorrow.
